"When Krystal offered me the opportunity to create a remix, she gave me three tracks to choose from. Skin was the obvious choice—it's one of my favorites from the album not only for its sonic content but because Krystal's lyrics are so relatable for me. Initially, I had intended to turn it into a throbbing industrial dance piece, but that idea was out the window after sitting on some early ideas. Instead, I decided to tear the entire thing apart and glue things together in a way I had been composing my own work over the last year. I resampled some of the stems through my own gear, cut them up, and lay them out in a way that unintentionally created two quite distinct movements. I feel like Puce Mary and Mika Vainio had a big influence on the final piece. I'm obsessed with Frederikke's compositional approach, and I think it's come through subconsciously in the remix. The remix was released as part of Collapse Theories, a compilation
collated by New Weird Australia featuring 28 unreleased tracks from experimental and underground Australian artists, New Weird Australia, Collapse Theories emerges at the tail-end of the two-year pandemic, and takes a precise psychic snapshot of the bridge between then and now.
